I have had a similar issue. I attempted to migrate from 4.3.3 ML10 to 5.2 on
a 43P with no avail. I was however able to do a new & complete overwrite on
the system with no problems. It seems 5.2 has a problem with migrations on a
43P.

I have the same problem with migrating from 4.3.3 ML10 to 5.2 on a 43p model
150. It is chrp architecture system. I was able to migrate from 4.3.3 ML10
to 5.1.0 ML02 without any problems. I then updated to 5.1.0 ML03 and tried
to migrate from that release to 5.2.0 and the installation would hang. I
was able to an clean install of 5.2.0 on this system without any problems.
I am beginning to believe that some systems even though they are chrp cannot
migrate to 5.2.0 but I have not been able to find any documentation that
specifically states this.

I have no problem with complete install of 5.2 on 7026-H50
but migrating from 4.3 to 5.2 the installation hangs.

I believe he is referring to a 7026-H50.

7026-H50 is with PowerPC 604e CPU and I believe it can go only up to AIX
5.1
but not 5.2. You may want to confirm that with IBM.

We are running AIX 5.2 with the 64-bit kernel with Oracle 9.2 on a p650.

Hi All,

I was trying to avoid bothering you all with this question as the 64 bit
question comes up regularly. However, I have been searching the Archives
and am still not sure of the answer to the following question/scenario.

We have a H50 running SAP and Oracle 8.1.7 and AIX 4.3.3.

We would like to do the following:

Upgrade OS to AIX 5.2 running in 64bit and Run Oracle 9.2 with SAP 4.7...
MY question is: does anyone know if running AIX 5.2 in 64bit will allow us
to Run Oracle9.2 ? As it is 64bit only.

As always thanks in advance
John
