Some advices:
- look at devtools/OS/AIX* files and change/define some specific detail to
your system before you start. We always define paths to install binarys,
man pages and etc.
- the default install path will overwrite your native sendmail and when you
install AIX ML you could revert to native code instead sendmail.org code
and trouble. To avoid that just specify another location to install the
final code (see above) and always verify your system after an ML install.
- take care with startsrc as the new code will not support it at all. We
can start sendmail wich SRC but we can't stop/refresh it by this way.
- the location for configuration has changed from /etc to /etc/mail. Some
configuration files have changed the name too, like sendmail.cw,
sendmail.st and others. Files like /etc/aliases and /etc/access could be
linked to the new location without problem.
- You wiil need now create a user and group specific for sendmail
(recommended id 25 and gid 25), cause some tasks will be driven by this
user, as a security enhancement, without root privilege and minimizing
buffer overflow attacks (see sendmail/SECURITY)
- you wiil need also a new spool area for this unprivileged sendmail user
(see sendmail/SECURITY file)
- create a new sendmail.cf file using the rules (add your own rules,
specially on cf/cf and cf/domain directory) on cf directory. I recommend a
revision on cf/cf/submit.mc file, specially if you change the default name
and group for sendmail user
- install it and let it go ;-)

Would anyone have any experiences to share installing sendmail 8.12.8? Most
of our systems are running sendmail 8.9.3 which came loaded on the OS (no
source code).
