You need to tell dbx the binary as well as the core file:
dbx <path>/pmserver ./core

Thanks Holger,

dbx was'nt successful:

[root@sp2_node17]/tmp/informatica> dbx ./core
Type 'help' for help.
Core file program (pmserver) does not match current program (core ignored)
warning: cannot execute ./core
reading symbolic information ...
(dbx)

The binary ("pmserver") is not striped and here is the errpt:

try dbx with the corefile

thats more application-developers work than sysadmin ones; so I cant
help more precisely

the errpt-output might help too, esp. if the binary is not striped (file
command)

Subject: How to get a stacktrace

Hi *,

one of our sp nodes runs "Informatica" which terminates with a coredump
nearly every night. The Informatica customer support person asked us if
it is possible to get a stacktrace of the dump.

How can *I* get a stacktrace of the dump?

TIA!!
