I believe that the 5.1.0.35 level of libc has a problem. I'm sure that's
what cause the snowball effect with the problems you had below. I first
patched libc (ML02) up to the latest level (ML03 5.1.0.37), and then
rebooted. I then applied the rest of ML03 around it. We haven't had any
problems.

When they say bit by APAR IY35580 I am assuming this is the apar which
caused the problem. Am I right in my assumption. If Yes what APAR do I need
to fix the problem.
We have been having all these weird problems with AIX 5.1 ML applications.
After we started from scratch on another machine , we had the weird problem
that the machine will not boot from the CD. We had an alt_disk_install
(luckily pre ML) and after some tweaking managed to boot from that.

You don't mention if you are 5.1 or 5.2, and if you applied ml03 or not, but
I do see a failure to load libC. Here's from a previous post:
During our upgrade from ML02 to ML03 on 3 p690 nodes, we had to
recover from the mksysb-images. We got bit by APAR IY35580,
(corrupted/incompatible libc, guess that's an important component ;-)
so make sure this is included in your upgrade.
