To find out the process associated with a port; might I suggest lsof ? It
works A LOT nicer that netstat for what you are wanting.

Precompiled @ Bull or IBM Linux ToolKit or UCLA...

Subject: How to clear up a tcp port

Hello AIXer's

When I launch an application, it tells me "No way Hosea, that port is in
use". "netstat -a" shows that is the case. Evidently, the application is
less than gracefull as it shuts down.

My question is: "How do I make that port available again?" and "How do I
associate a process ID with the port listed in netstat -a?"

TIA
