I spoke to the firewall guy and he says that he is able to see the rpc connection establishing on his side. But the mount fails on the aix side. He also tell me that they have this issue only on the aix servers, No issues with the Sun servers. Is there anything that I can check on the aix servers all run 4.3.3 version.

Subject: nfs mounts

Hi!

Iam trying to nfs mount a filesystem from a Sun server (A) onto several AIX systems. The filesystem from the Sun server is exported to the world. On all the AIX servers automounter is running. Mount is successful only on those aix servers from which the ping is successful to the Sun server (A). On all the other aix server where Iam not able to ping to the Sun server (A) the mount is unsuccessful. However Iam able to do ssh from the Sun server to these AIX servers and when I do showount -e "A", It shows me that the Sun server is exporting to the world. These AIX servers are behind the firewall and ping is disabled. My question is should ping be enabled on the firewall for the mounts to be successful..?

Thanks,

Rohan
