SMBCLIENT yes; but more of an FTP interface. SMBMOUNT etc -> Linux only.
It is built into the kernel as a mount option. Not supported on AIX to my
knowledge.

Ken,

 I believe that you can accomplish this by using samba on the AIX system.
Check out the smbclient and smbmount/smbumount utilities.
