RAID rebuild

Hi Gang,

I had a weird problem that I am facing for the first time. On one of our
customer's server running AIX 4.3.3, we were getting a pdisk error on a RAID
5 that was running in degraded state. IBM CE replaced the pdisk and the RAID
5 rebuilt OK and now running as good state.

The SSA health check is giving an error every hour in the error log
regarding ssa0. We updated the system to ML10, then IBM updated the
microcode on the disks to the latest level but we still getting the same
error.

IBM are saying that this error is an invalid data strip in the raid which it
was rebuilding. The invalid data strip is showing when we go to list the
status of the RAID5 status. IBM suggesting to destroy and rebuild the raid
to solve this error.

Did any body see something like this that can share their experience. You
have to think that you use RAID to eliminate rebuilding volume groups in
case of disk failures ?????
