Actually, as a regular user, the home directory on my system is an NFS
mount... root is the only one whose
/home is local.....

i've got the opposite problem...only root can log in to cde...i think that
probably has something to do with the fact that my /home is nfs mounted
from
someplace else.

Subject: CDE issues....

Hi List,

I've run into a very interesting problem with one of my AIX 4.2 systems....

When I log in as root, I get an error message stating that the DT messaging
service could not start and that
I should check /etc/hosts to make sure my hostame and IP are correct (they
are)....

As a regular user, I can log in without that error message, but when I try
to exit, I get a message stating that
"A ToolTalk connection could not be established"..... I've seen this before
and freeing up disk space has corrected
it, but that is not an issue right now.

Has anyone ever experianced these problems together (or separately) that
may be able to shed some light on them???

All assistance is, as always, greatly appreciated.
