I have a problem here on my SP. We do rsh commands on a HACMP cluster to
do a backup every Sunday. Here is the flow...
1. DB server HACMP nodes rsh's a command to the app server to stop the
app
2. rsh responds and app is down
3. DB server starts backup
4. Backup completes and rsh to app server to re-start app
5. rsh returns control to DB server and backup ends
Often, there is a problem with the last two steps. There are 2 scenario's
where it fails.
A. App server start script never finishes and rsh "hangs", so backup
never finishes
B. App server script finishes, but rsh never returns control to DB
server.
Option B is what happened last night. The start app script finished, but
control was never returned to the DB server. The backup script remained
running and the rsh on the DB server was still running, but the script had
completed on the app server.
Anyone know of any 4.3.3.10 APAR's that might fix this ?
