gcc 3.0.1 on AIX 5.1

Hi,
I downloaded and installed gcc 3.0.1 from bullfreeware. My box runs AIX 5.1
ml1.
I added /usr/local/bin to my path and bos.adt.* packages are installed.

Any non-trivial compilation (i tried glib 1.2.9 and nmap 3.00) quickly
fails. Do I need to install supplementary header files or libs on links or
whatever ??
