Hi,

I'd be interested in knowing the out come of this one. We recently had a
server d othe same after a baydel disk was swapped out. At some point all
the hdisks were re numbered and we ended p with the same 554 problem. After
several attempts and like yoursefl , following the procedures, the mksysb
was put back down , but the problem still persisted. Due to time tc, we
ended up havingto re install the OS from scratch, whcih has left us with a
few gremlins as usual.

Regards,

Sanchia

Subject: 554 error after cloning from mksysb ...

AIXers ...

I've created a mksysb tape of a 7026-H50 system (at 4.3.3.0-ML08) , and
am attempting to restore this tape to a 7028-6C1 system (newly
installed in our data center.)

I've have followed the standard procedure for doing this (as detailed
in the TechDocs ref: 90605198914842) several times; each time has ended
in the same result: the system hangs with a "554" after booting from
the disk that the mksysb was restored to.

I have also followed the procedure detailed in TechDocs ref:
90605189214746 (recovery from a 554) to no avail. I've attempted to do
this restore from two different mksysb tapes (the tapes were created
one after the other, and should be close to identical) three times now,
to two different physical drives in the system.

We are booting the system from AIX 4.3.3 Installation CD #1,
LCD4-0286-08 (the system on the mksysb tape is at 4.3.3.0-ML08). No
errors are printed during the restore process, and it appears to
complete successfully.

I've opened a PMR with SupportLine, but they have been less than
helpful. Anyone have any experiences like this? (A resolution would
be even better! :-)

Thanks,
        -s-
