Check permissions not only in the file system of AIX, but in the shares too (check the smb.conf file). IF you are in doubt because of the use of that file, use fuser command to check that.

I'm sure I'm over looking something simple....
I am attempting to write (using a test notepad text file) to a samba share on an AIX 4.2 server from a windows 2000 machine.
The error I get is "Cannot copy test: access is denied: the source file may be in use".
I know that the test file is not being used by any other process.
What should I check?
