Note that smit - and the extendlv command, if you use that - refers to
LOGICAL partitions, not physical partitions, so just specify 1.

If you're confident enough about the layout of your mirrors, and what LVM is
going to do to it, a simple (i.e. less typing!) way of adding a single LP
is: "chfs -a size=+1 /filesystem".

You may be tempting fate with the allocation of the mirror copy, (see recent
posts on this topic). If you've got super strict mirroring and inter-volume
allocation set to "minimum" you'll probably be OK.
