Are all of your PDUs plugged in ? Namely the I/O cabinet... Was the
machine started up with only one plugged in ?

Yes, it is a 7017-S80 and it is attached to a Hitachi 9900 cabinet. We are
using Hitachi dynamic link manager ( it's a software like IBM SDD ). It´s a
strange problem because it is a HACMP cluster and the problem has appeared
on both nodes at the same time. I have killed and started again the errdemon
as said Bill Verzal and works OK again. Could you please send me more
information?

Can I ask a question... What class of machine is this ? If it is a
7017-S8X class, do you have both I/O cabinet power whips/PDUs attached and
functioning ?

There was a bug in the firmware and we experienced the exact same problem.
Once the machine saw the PDU down it would send an errlast() to the error
log and essentially stop the errdemon from working.

I can elaborate if need be. The new microcode fixes it...

When I run /usr/lib/errdemon -s 1048576 I see the following message:

0315-100 The error log device driver, /dev/error, is already open.
The error demon may already be active.

And when I run errlogger test and after that errpt I can't see anything, it
hasn't any entry.
What can I do ?

You should never have to stop and start the daemon unless you are having
problems. So, I'd say no.

Thank you, only one more question. I have the errdemon started . Can I stop
the errdemon and after that restart it with errdemon -s 1048576?

Run "/usr/lib/errdemon -s 1048576" to recreate the error log.

Run "errlogger test" then "errpt" to see if you have an "OPERATOR
NOTIFICATION" entry in the error log.

Hello all:

I have an AIX 4.3.3.0-09 system with HACMP 4.3.1 with a problem in
the errpt report. When I run errpt it doesn't show anything and I think
that
it is a problem with the errlog file. How can I correct this problem?
