Re: Jakarta-Tomcat

Thank you to all who are helping me in configuring Tomcak for Apache on AIX
5L.

Tried all that but it did not work for me. Here is the error when I tried to
untar the binaries for Tomcat 4.0.4

gzip -d -c jakarta-tomcat-4.0.4.tar.gz | tar -xvf -

After creating all the directories is says media blocks and the is the error
displayed on the last line.
tar: 0511-169 A directory checksum error on media:804396944 not equal to
13476.

Looks I need to start from scratch...

Question: If I try to build from source do I need to load all the packages
(Like jakarta-ant-1.4, Java XML Pack, Xerces 1 Distribution,
jakarta-servletapi-4 ) mentioned in the documentation at
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.0-doc/BUILDING.txt
There are some where 17 step. Did some one try to follow that documentation.
How good is that, and what else do I need to do extra other than that. OR is
there some thing better than that.

Damn. That worked perfectly. Thanks! (Of course, I don't know if
that was the problem that Jai, the original poster, had, but I'm happy!
