When I compiled it, I think I used the linux script...I'm not sure it matters.

Try this:
Add '-bexpall' to $CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB in $APACHE_HOME/bin/apxs.

'-ldl' may help as well

In AIX, programs are supposed to export all symbols to work properly (at least that's how I understand it). I hope this helps.
