Sounds like a problem with permissions with your /dev or /dev/pts
directories.
Here are the perms on one of our boxes that has a buncha users logged in...
drwxrwxr-x 5 root system 3072 Jul 10 10:56 /dev/
...
drwxr-xr-x 2 root system 3584 Feb 16 1999 pts/

I have a system running 4.3.3 ML_09 that is giving me fits. I can remoptely

it as root, but not as a regular user (we're using NIS). The message I get

Does anyone know what would cause that and how I can fix it???
