In my previous position, mksysb never worked until I changed the block size to 0 (variable). This was on new F50s we were deploying at the time. Looking at our other deployed control workstations, which were F40 and F50, they also had the block size at 0.

I never changed block_size , never had problems.
But doing mksysb is not very fast.

Where can I read about pros/cons of changing the block_size?

hmm, really? I've always specified block size of zero for my
makesysbs. Otherwise it's too slow.
