SAR reporting enabled--reboot necessary?

Enviro:

AIX 4.3.3.10

I have enabled SAR reporting.

At the end of the procedure, it says to "Reboot the system. This will turn
on the data collection programs ........"

These are on-line servers and can't be rebooted, at least not immediately.

Isn't there some other way to "....turn on the data collection programs
...." other than rebooting??

crontab -e for adm was used to activate the /usr/lib/sa/sa1/sa2 programs.

/etc/rc/ was uncommented to activate the /usr/lib/sa/sadc program.

Any thoughts??
