I think the copy of ftpd is coincidental with it working, as ftpd was
already running. What if you mput from the other machine ?

Hi *,

Running AIX 4.3.2 on an RS6000 3CT

I am puzzled by this strange ftp behavior on "machineA":

ftp -i machineA
login: #OK, no problem
password: #OK, no problem

ftp>get fileABC #OK, no problem
ftp>mget fileA* #error message
Connection closed by remote host.
ftp>

My solution:

Copy ftpd from MachineB (also AIX 4.3.2) to /usr/sbin on MachineA

Now repeat above ftp session on MachineA.
Everything including mget works!

Next day (no reboot):
Repeat above ftp session on MachineA.
Same symptoms as yesterday, mget FAILS.

Anybody can figure out what might be going on?
