Use "bootinfo -y" to verify you have a 64-bits environment.
In AIX5 you can have a 64-bits kernel. To active this use:
1. verify that /usr/lib/boot/unix_64 is available
2. rm /unix
3. rm /usr/lib/boot/unix
4. ln -s /usr/lib/boot/unix_64 /unix
5. ln -s /usr/lib/boot/unix_64 /usr/lib/boot/unix
6. bosboot -ad <bootdevice> (eg. /dev/hdisk0)
7. shutdown -Fr
To enable 64bits application go to smit, choose "Systen Environment" and
"Enable 64-bit Application Environment".

Onderwerp: aix 32 or 64 bit kernel.
Does anyone have the procedures/commands for setting the AIX kernel to run
in 32 bit or 64 bit and how to do it on AIX 4 and AIX 5, and I assume
whatever the procedure is to set it, it would require a system reboot?. Any
assistance would be appreciated thanks!.
