One of the reasons why people change the system herald is to hide the
operating system version. I would
never recommend you to put either the operating system name or version,
unless you are writing a fake
information.

For example, in /etc/security/login.cfg, there are stanzas you can set up
for individual ports or default. The 'herald' value is what you want to
change. The one below clears the screen and places system name and a
warning up before the login prompt (part of the herald):
