tty problem

All,

I have a B-80 here with a weird console problem.

When the system boots up, I get all of the usual console messages, but at
the end, the console goes into an "output only" mode. I get a single login
herald, but I am actually unable to login.

I've check inittab and smitty |devices. Everything seems ok - I've
compared it to another system and they look the same.

Any suggestions ?
